I love watch shows. Absolutely love them! I immensely enjoy meeting folks and answering questions, as well as sharing more about DuFrane and hearing feedback. I also very much enjoy the heck out of the other brands and owners. We all have this relentless passion for watches, and sharing stories and ideas is so helpful.

Skinny guy, large hat...unmistakably Steven

I attended Intersect in LA in July, and it was probably the BEST watch event I have participated to date. The folks who traveled to Long Beach (and if y'all know anything about traffic in LA, everywhere is at least 1-2 hours away!) were so welcoming and grateful to see the watches in person, the venue was incredible (called Altar- see pre-show image below), and the structure of the show was phenomenal. The event was hosted by three watch brands, and this is the second or third year they have held it. And it was evident as it ran like...well...a finely tuned mechanical watch. They open the event with a VIP hour, for those that wanted to pay a small fee to gain early access to the show, that way the crowd is much smaller and more intimate. Then the general show ran for only four hours. If y'all haven't stood and talked straight for four hours before, then you will appreciate that length of time!

Pre-show vibes

The event ended with dinner and drinks with various watch bloggers/reviewers/media outlets. That's a pretty cool idea, as the independent/microbrand space continues to expand and gain popularity, so allowing brands and media to connect is fundamental to this growth. One company that I found very interesting in attendance is a long-standing contributor, and arguably one of the most influential in the space. None other than Hodinkee.

I was quite surprised to see them as they typically focus on the much more established and the higher end range of watch collecting. Nonetheless, they covered this small event and took some incredible images. Check out the article here. This goes to show just how well executed the event was and how much small players can impact such a massive industry.

I am personally working on attending a live event every month (or every other month). There is nothing better than connecting live and in person with this great community and sharing more awareness about DuFrane. I hope to see y'all out there!

Steven
