01 · The story

Lake Travis:
A Brief History

Lake Travis is not a natural lake; in fact, it is a reservoir. The lake was created when the Lower Colorado River Authority constructed Mansfield Dam. The massive structure is 26 stories high and 7,000 feet long. Construction of the dam began in 1938. Four years later, the dam was complete, and Lake Travis became official in 1942.

Lake Travis is Austin's main water supply and reservoir. Believe it or not, folks actually even SCUBA dive in parts of the lake.

Bracelet and strap.
Both in the box.

Every Travis ships on the five-link Ultra SEL bracelet, 20mm tapering to 18mm, with the on-the-fly adjustment that micro-adjusts up to 10mm, and a premium seatbelt nylon pass-through strap in the box.

The 40 Acres includes a hook and loop strap instead.

I've had a lifelong love affair with mechanical watches. From my first watch at age 8 to inheriting my grandfather's old Wyler from my mother, they've always been central to my life.

Every DuFrane is built by hand in my Austin shop. I regulate each movement. I test every piece.

316L marine grade stainless steel, DLC coated, in ultra smooth brushed and mirror polished finishes with finely polished chamfers. 39mm across, 47mm lug to lug, 12mm high, 20mm lugs. 5.8oz with the bracelet (all links).

Crystal

Sapphire crystal, 3mm thick, with 5x anti-reflective coating under the crystal.

Crown

6.5mm screw-down, signed crown with double silicone gaskets.

Bezel

120 click uni-directional, sapphire and aluminium insert with C3 lume.

Dial and hands

Milled chapter ring and colour-matched date disc. Diamond cut, rhodium polished handset (40 Acres flat white framed). X1 grade C3 SuperLumiNova on the dial, hands and bezel insert.
