I never thought I would be a painter. I can’t draw well and I wasn’t classically trained. But, the first time I sat in front of Mark Rothko’s work, something inside me awakened. I sat for hours soaking up the vibrational fields of color. I’ve always appreciated art, but in more of a technical or mechanical way. These paintings weren’t about the skill, but rather, how they made me feel. About a year later, I created my first painting, in an effort to explore and deepen my connection with the way I felt in front of the color fields, and I’ve been painting ever since.

Signed and Numbered

Whitney has signed and numbered each dial back to denote its uniqueness. Her process to paint each one with oil paint is detailed and quite time-consuming. She takes great pride knowing every creation is completely individual.

This is the first collaboration for DuFrane, so it had to be a really special one. 16 one-of-a-kind timepieces will be made available crafted in partnership with renowned Austin artist Whitney Lauren. Each dial is completely different and has Whitney's signature style. Each and every piece encapsulates the DuFrane essence of 'History remembers those who are a little bit different'. Whitney typically paints very large format pieces, on canvas or wood panels. She incorporates various textures and layers to create very emotive art. I have been chasing her for years to try a watch dial, and I guess I finally wore her down! These dials are breathtaking and are completely original. Each one is numbered and signed by Whitney.
